CHRISTIAN SERVICES, INC.
Serves as a multifaceted ministry through which men and women can come together from individual churches and organizations to demonstrate love to a world of people who are in bondage to poverty, ignorance, anger, frustration, and loneliness

Age Requirement: 16 years and up (unless supervised by adults)

Volunteer Activities: Sort clothing at Bargains and Blessings thrift store; serve food at Soup Kitchen (Monday-Friday); help with “Kid’s on the Go!” program 

Material Needs: Clothing of all kinds, used furniture, monetary donations for “Loving Hands” benevolence program, food or donations for “Yulecare” Christmas gift baskets

Holiday Projects: Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, “Birthday Party for Jesus,” adopting families for “Yulecare” Christmas food and gift baskets, Easter Fun Day, Back-to-School Rally 

Evening or Weekend Projects: Packing boxes of food for “Angel Food” ministry (last Saturday of each month)

Material Needs: Food for food pantry; scholarships for preschool children, school supplies, cleaning supplies, monetary contributions

Provides affordable, decent housing to low-income families with special emphasis on people with persons with disabilities, the elderly, and single parent families

Volunteer Activities: Tutor clients in various areas of need such as educational, financial, life-skills development, employment interviewing; assist with activities around the facility, such as landscaping, accompanying clients to recreational activities 

Material Needs: Household cleaning products, laundry cleaning products, outdoor game/sports equipment

Holiday Projects: Assist with events for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Back-to-School Celebrations, etc.

Evening or Weekend Projects: Assist with maintenance of the facility 

Family and Group Projects: “Adopt a Room”—donate items for a particular room of the house, “Adopt a Welcome”—donate toiletry items, or “Adopt a Personal Need”—donate men’s and women’s hygiene products

THE SALVATION ARMY 
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ without discrimination. 

Provides crisis intervention and direct services to area residents in need. Temporary assistance offered with rent, food and other essential expenses, homeless shelter, counseling, summer camping programs for adults, assistance during times of disaster, school supplies, seasonal assistance and senior adult centers. Provides character-building and spiritual growth programs for youth through Corps Youth, Summer camps, and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club programs. These include various activities for children ages 6-18. The school The School for Performing Arts provides classes in visual art, dance, voice, drama and band at locations in Hattiesburg, Columbia and Perry County.

Volunteer Activities: Assist with many of the programs listed above with tasks including clerical assistance, tutoring, sorting clothes, working individually with children, working with children in group activities, working in the thrift store and assisting with special events

Material Needs: Office supplies, school supplies, arts and crafts supplies for youth, canned goods, clothing, toys and clothing for Angel Tree children, used vehicles

Holiday Projects: Thanksgiving food boxes, Christmas registration, Angel Tree, Christmas Kettle Bells

Training: Volunteer application to be completed. Background check required to work with children.
